Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Natasha Pierre has worked in 11 countries throughout her career as an economist.
Now she's settled in Frederick and is looking for a middle management position in project or business management where she can put of all her tools from the international economic market to work.
Pierre moved to the U.S. in 2006 and had been living in Queens, N.Y. She moved to Frederick three years ago.
She is looking for a position in Frederick, but said she is open to possibilities in Baltimore and Washington.
She currently operates a home-based export business. Her last position was from 2003 to 2005 with the Ministry of Finance in Trinidad as an investment policy analyst.
Before that, she worked as an economy tutor, an economist with the Food and Agriculture Organization of Trinidad & Tobago and as a marketing and economic research assistant with the Caribbean Agricultural Marketing and Intelligence Database.
Her previous work experience has taken her to Antigua, Barbados, Belize, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Suriname and Trinidad.
In positions with the Food and Agriculture Organization of Trinidad & Tobago and the Caribbean Agricultural Marketing and Intelligence Database, Pierre's responsibilities included overseeing the policies in those countries.
Pierre said she hoped that international experience won't intimidate any potential employers.
"It would be a great asset to them. There's less training that they'll have to put into me," she said. "I will come with a completely different and a fresh point of view into the company."
Pierre holds a bachelor's degree in general agriculture and a master's degree in agricultural economics from the University of the West Indies at St. Augustine.
With her 3-year-old son recently enrolled in pre-kindergarten, Pierre has been searching for a job since the summer. While she thought she would have found a job by now, she believes her experience in the private and public sector will soon land her another job.
"I'm ready to work and I am ready to learn, so don't be too blown away by what I've done. I want you to be blown away for what I can do for your company," she said.
