Authorities crack down on underage liquor sales

Three liquor stores in Frederick County failed compliance checks performed Thursday by Maryland State Police, according to a news release.

The agency checked six liquor stores in the Walkersville and Woodsboro area at the request of the Frederick County Liquor Board. The board had received reports of underage alcohol sales, the release said.

The stores that did not comply are Walkersville Liquor at 25 Maple Ave. in Walkersville, Village Way Liquors at 128 Walkers Village Way in Walkersville and Barnes Liquors at 9711 Liberty Road in Frederick. Those stores sold liquor to underage state police cadets, the release said.

Results of the compliance checks were sent to liquor inspector Harold DeLauter, the release said. The board will enforce appropriate penalties for noncompliance.
