The county health department will hold a pandemic H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine clinic 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday for people in priority groups, health officer Dr. Barbara Brookmyer announced this morning.
Appointments are required for the clinic, which will offer only the injectable (flu shot) form of the vaccine. Thimerosal-free vaccine will be available for pregnant women only.
The vaccine will be provided free at this clinic.
Priority groups include:
Children and young adults ages 6 months through 24 years
Pregnant women
People ages 25-64 with chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease or a weakened immune system
Household contacts and out-of-home caregivers of children less than 6 months of age
Health care and emergency medical services personnel.
Appointments for people in these groups may be made by calling 877-628-2392 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday (or until all slots are filled).
The health department has 800 doses of the vaccine. The clinic will be at Christ the Redeemer (the old Circuit City building) at 5606 Buckeystown Pike.
