Wheelies for Judd
Originally published July 26, 2009

As a dedicated cyclist and policy analyst in nonmotorized transportation, I am most impressed with Jason Judd's attention to diversifying Frederick 's transportation options, as well as making downtown Frederick a less car-dependent place to live.

I first learned of Jason through Frederick 's cycling community, and this is what prompted me to attend the launching of his campaign earlier this year at the Delaplaine. It was there that I learned more about his platform and was sincerely impressed with his dedication to creating a more sustainable Frederick .

If Frederick is to continue to grow, we must protect those aspects of our town that make it such an amazing place to live. Furthermore, the economic success of downtown Frederick will hinge on its ability to accommodate increased density. Making Frederick a more bicycle-friendly community will allow our town to grow without becoming overwhelmed with traffic and parking decks. In addition, active transportation options not only improve community cohesion, but also encourage healthy lifestyles.

Jason Judd recognizes these issues as key to preserving the quality of life we enjoy here in Frederick . With his fresh perspective on sustainability and community cohesion, I believe Jason will help Frederick continue to grow and evolve with the economic, environmental and transportation needs of its community members.
