Frederick — The Frederick Police Department may not know what killed a Frederick man and his four children until next week. Lt. Tom Chase did rule out stabbing and gunshots as causes of death.
The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore has completed post-mortem examinations on 28-year-old Pedro Rodriguez, 9-year-old Elsa Rodriguez, 4-year-old Vanessa Rodriguez, 3-year-old Angel Rodriguez and 1-year-old Carena Rodriguez, according to Chase.
All five examinations have been classified as “pending,” according to Chase. This classification means that additional toxicology studies are necessary to make conclusive decisions. The state of decomposition of the bodies is what is causing the delay.
The examinations will remain “pending” for at least a week, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The Frederick Police Department is continuing to investigate the whereabouts of Deysi Benitez, who police believe is the children’s mother. Leads to find Benitez have been unfruitful.
