TV program to feature segment on missing woman

Deysi Benitez was last seen on March 18. Her husband and four children were found dead in their Frederick townhouse on March 26. Police and FBI are still searching for Benitez.
A 60-minute television program airing Thursday will show interviews with people who know Deysi Benitez, a Frederick resident whose husband and children were found dead in the family's house March 26.

Benitez was last seen March 18.

Aqu’ y Ahora, meaning Here and Now in English, is a Latin American media program that runs at 10 p.m. Thursdays on Univision. Comcast customers in Frederick can watch the show on WFDC, channel 15.

Producers of Aqu’ y Ahora spent several days in Frederick last week talking with police and with people who know Benitez.

"It was very hard for us to talk to the community," said producer Belisa Morillo.

About 30 million viewers will tune in to watch the program, according to Lt. Tom Chase of the Frederick Police Department.

"We're hoping it generates new leads," he said.

Chase believes the additional coverage throughout the United States and El Salvador, Benitez's native country, will help investigators find her and talk to her.

Police said her husband, Pedro Rodriguez, killed their four children — Elsa, 9; Vanessa, 4; Angel, 3; and Carena, 1 — in their Danielle Drive townhouse before hanging himself.

Thursday night's show will spotlight the Frederick murder-suicide case for about 10 minutes.

Frederick Police Chief Kim C. Dine said working with the show's producers is part of his department's efforts to further its investigation into the five deaths and Benitez's disappearance.

The Frederick police have used several resources to generate tips and gather more information about the case. The FBI posted a missing person alert for Benitez two weeks after the bodies of her family were found.

"We never give up," Dine said.
