ROCKY RIDGE -- County and state fire marshals are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a camper and barn in the 13800 block of Motters Station Road on Sunday.Damage is estimated at $500,000, said Mike Dmuchowski, spokesman for the county's Division of Fire and Rescue Services. One firefighter was burned on the neck but was treated at the scene for the injury. Emmitsburg resident Michael Hillman was walking his dogs around 9:30 p.m. Sunday when he saw the fire. "It was like a torch went up," he said. "You could smell smoke from my house three miles away." It took fire officials about two hours to control the blaze, Dmuchowski said. There were no animals in the barn. Firefighters did not leave the scene until around 3 a.m. Monday, Dmuchowski said.
