Turnout from three very different precincts topped the list of unofficial results for Tuesday's primary election in Frederick .
More than 35 percent of the 2,563 voters in precinct five, an old area of town west of North Market Street that includes the College Park neighborhood and Hood College, showed up at the William R. Talley Recreation Center to cast ballots.
About 23.8 percent of the 1,670 voters in precinct three, an area that stretches from the airport to the east sidewalk of Market Street, turned out to vote at the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Precinct 12, representing the newer development of Worman’s Mill, came in third with 21.3 percent of its 1,563 voters going to the polls.
Overall, the city saw a 16.8 percent voter turnout or 4,209 ballots out of 24,943 registered Republicans and Democrats.
The Hillcrest neighborhood, precinct four, had the lowest turnout of the 12 precints in the city. About 9.6 percent of the area’s 3,099 voters decided to vote Tuesday.
Election officials will certify the final vote count Thursday.
