Local Roundup: Cougars blank Leopards, go to 6-0

SMITHSBURG -- Catoctin amassed 405 yards in total offense against Smithsburg and blanked the Leopards, 32-0 Friday, to go 6-0 for the first time since the 1983 season.

Catoctin went on to a 10-0 record that year.

The Cougars also enjoyed a good day passing with quarterback Dylan May completing 11-of-13 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns. He threw two TD strikes to Paul Barbour.

Catoctin led at halftime, 14-0.

Nick Nowaczyk caught six passes for 78 yards for Catoctin.

The Cougars' defense kept the Leopards in check the entire game, stopping two Smithsburg fourth-down conversion situations. Catoctin also recovered two fumbles.

MSD 44, Poolesville 6

POOLESVILLE -- Maryland School for the Deaf dominated Poolesville (1-5), outgaining the Falcons in total offense, 413-106.

The Orioles (6-1) had 289 yards rushing with 124 yards passing. MSD had 369 yards in total offense in the first half.

Ethan Kramer led MSD in rushing with 163 yards on eight carries and two touchdowns. He broke scoring runs of 52 and 34 yards.

Quarterback Todd Bonheyo completed 5-of-7 passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns. MSD led at halftime, 37-6.

Malik Morris and Gregg McConville, Jr. each had eight tackles for MSD.

Tuscarora 32, FSK 7

UNIONTOWN -- No other information was availble.

Men's Soccer

LIU 3, MSM 2

Emmitsburg -- Long Island University scored 18 minutes into overtime for the win. Ty Fenstermacher and Kyle Patrick each had a goal in regulation for Mount St. Mary's (2-8, 1-2 Northeast Conference). Chris Davis had six saves for the Mount.

Women's Soccer

Wesley 1, Hood 0

DOVER, Del. -- Lindsey Campbell converted a penalty kick in the 63rd minute to give Wesley the win. Rachelle Buhrman had seven saves for Hood (7-4-1, 2-3 Capital Athletic Conference).

College Volleyball

FCC 3, Anne Arundel 1

Scores: 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 26-24. Ashley Beall had 27 assists for Frederick Community College (7-6); Danielle Maught had 20 digs and Sara Gartrell had 12 kills.
