The Frederick News-Post will be updating traffic conditions throughout the region today as commuters make their way to Washington, D.C., for the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.

UPDATE - 1:02 p.m.: Outbound regional commuter bus lots and MARC service will begin this afternoon by 4 p.m.

UPDATE, 12:08 p.m.: According to Metro, Federal Triangle station is closed due to crowding at street level. It will reopen after the Inaugural parade.

SHA REPORT, 10:47 a.m.: Inbound regional commuter bus and MARC service is complete. Outbound service will begin this afternoon at 4 p.m.

UPDATE, 10:41 a.m.: Metrorail service on the Red Line has resumed after a woman fell on the tracks at the Gallery Place-Chinatown station. However, major delays continue on the Red Line.

Normal service resumed around 10:15 a.m. at the Gallery Place and Metro Center stations. Red Line trains were turning back at Farragut North and Judiciary Square Metrorail stations after a woman ended up on the tracks at the Gallery Place station around 9:25 a.m.

The preliminary investigation reveals that a 68-year-old woman fell on the tracks but was not hit by an approaching Red Line train headed in the direction of Glenmont.

The woman has been transported to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Trains stations have been crowded throughout the day. Passengers are advised to stand at least two feet away from the platform edge for their safety.

SHA REPORT, 10:37 a.m.: southbound I-95 south of MD 32 in Howard County. All lanes open from prior incident.

UPDATE, 10:10 a.m.: According to Metro, Red Line trains are turning back at Farragut North and Judiciary Square Metrorail stations after a person was struck by a Red Line train at Gallery Pl-Chinatown Metrorail station. Riders can expect major delays while emergency personnel respond to the scene.

There is no Red Line train service at Metro Center or Gallery Pl-Chinatown Metrorail stations. People should exit at Judiciary Square and Farragut North to walk to the National Mall.

The train was headed in the direction of Glenmont when it reportedly struck the individual at 9:25 a.m. today (January 20). Police are on the scene investigating the incident.

    • Capital Beltway — Traffic flowing moderately on I-95 and I-495 with some delays in the areas of the Metro Stations.
    • Greenbelt, Branch Avenue, New Carrollton, Shady Grove and College Park Metro Stations in MD are FULL.
    • Broken Land Parkway commuter bus lot is FULL.
    • Motorists heading toward Branch Avenue Metro Station should consider additional metro stops along MD 5 including Naylor Road or Suitland.
    • Greenbelt Metro users should use Prince George's Plaza metro station.
    • New Carrollton metro users should use Landover station.
    • Shady Grove metro users should use Rockville or Twinbrook metro stations.
    • SB MD 355 in Chevy Chase - right lane blocked with utility issue.
    • Crash on outer loop I-695 at Wilkens Ave. and crash along US 15 at US 40 with lanes blocked in Frederick County.

    UPDATE, 7:28 a.m.: Wa-Po reports a two car accident on Clara Barton Parkway in Maryland; traffic being diverted at turnaround.

    UPDATE, 7:22 a.m.: Metro reports parking lots at Vienna and East Falls Church are now full. According to the SHA, the Broken Land Parkway commuter bus lot is full. The right lane of southbound Md. 355 in Chevy Chase is blocked with utility issue.

    UPDATE, 7:15 a.m.: FULL METRO STATIONS — Greenbelt, Branch Avenue and New Carrollton, Shady Grove Metro Stations in MD are FULL. College Park Station is nearly full.
