County teachers ratify contract
Originally published June 09, 2009

From Staff Reports

Members of the Frederick County Teachers Association ratified their contract with the Frederick County Board of Education for the 2009-2010 school year, FCTA President Gary Brennan said Monday.

The agreement does not include a cost of living adjustment or a step increase for teachers and other certified staff, Brennan said. Employee contributions for insurance remain at the current rate and teachers who are changing curriculum in the 2009-2010 school year will be able to attend summer training at the workshop rate of pay.

Contingency language in the new contract requires that any new funding received by the school board be applied to employee salaries, Brennan said.

Salary and benefits were the only items negotiated this year. All other contract language is in effect until July 1, 2011.
