Cameron Bauer is an artist from Frederick who produces amazingly unique works of art.

He uses canvas drop cloth as his main medium but started off simply using paper. Using such an affordable medium, rather than canvas, is all a part of what Cameron stands for, which he dubs "artist economics."

Bauer's style of art is often compared to Jackson Pollock, because of his large canvases and drip-style painting, but he likes to believe that he is not as limited as Pollock.

Bauer's main goal is to "expand on what Pollock couldn't do" and create something larger and more true to his own style.

Inspired by Jean Michel Basquiat, a New York neo-expressionist artist from the 1980s, Cameron found his "muse," so to speak, from the artist's documentary titled "Basquiat."

In the documentary, there is a particular scene where Basquiat is seen pouring maple syrup onto a table to create art. Bauer, who at the time, had no other previous art experience, was extremely inspired by this scene, which launched him into creating the signature works he now shows.

Bauer has been painting for four to five years, however he is also a musician. He has worked with numerous bands before but currently plays exclusively with the band Eat People.

His artwork is prominently displayed at all their shows, and Cameron recently held his own art show at the Blue Elephant in downtown Frederick .

His first appearance with Eat People was at a small show at the former Record and Tape Traders, where he displayed only three small paintings.

Bauer, who does all his paintings exclusively in the wee hours of the night and early morning, is a self-proclaimed "night-owl" and prefers to work "compulsive and impulsive[ly]" and is motivated more by a "need than a want."
