Women's Day

Quinn Chapel AME, 106 E. Third St., Frederick , theme is Women of Faith -- Increasing Our Power Through Prayer, as part of its Women's Day service Sunday.

Men and Women Day

Dorsey Christian Chapel in New Market is holding its annual Men and Women Day on Sunday. At the 11 a.m. service is guest speaker Minister Roberta Johnson from York, Pa.; at the 3 p.m. seervice guests are Seneca Choir from Montgomery County. Dinner will be served.

Series continues

St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church's Together Growing in Faith series presents "Just War and Catholic Social Teaching" 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday in McElroy Hall, 8428 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick . This third presentation, in The Rev. Phil Keane's four-part series, titled "Key Themes in Catholic Moral Theology" explores the Catholic tradition on Just War, the Challenge of Pacifism, current issues in Just War Theology, and Catholicism and Economic Justice. Deeper Life Conference to be held

Women's Connection monthly breakfast

Hagerstown Christian Women's Connection's monthly breakfast 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Next Dimensions Restaurant, 132 Old National Pike (outside of Funkstown). The special feature will be Alison Davies, international teacher of languages. Davies, who is from France, will be sharing some of her travel adventures. The music will be provided by vocalist Ruthy Japzon of Hagerstown; speaker is Mary Edna Starner of Baltimore, a former teacher and principal. She will speak of the challenges involved in her life. Support group to meet

When You Find Yourself Single Again, a support group for individuals, who are separated, divorced or widowed, will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 14 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 8651 Biggs Ford Road, Walkersville . Trumpet, organ concert

John Pursell, trumpet, and Mark Huston, organist, will perform at 5 p.m. Nov. 15 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1914 Ballenger Creek Pike, Point of Rocks . The event is part of the church's charity concert series. An offering will benefit the Alzheimer's Association of Western Maryland. For information call 301-874-2995.

Garden to be dedicated

Grace Community Church has built a prayer garden on the church campus located at 5102 Old National Pike in Frederick . Through the donation of a church member, the garden was designed as a place where people can come for times of quiet prayer and reflection as well as enjoyment and fellowship together. The garden will be dedicated 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The garden is open for anyone to enjoy.
