Concert today at FCB

Masterworks Chorale'sfall concert

Masterworks Chorale of Carroll County's Fall Concert, "Gloria!" will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Baker Memorial Chapel, McDaniel College, Westminster. All students with ID will be admitted free. Tickets are $12 at the door.

CommunityThanksgiving dinner

Asbury United Methodist Church will hold its annual Community Thanksgiving dinner 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The dinner will be held in the church's social hall, located at West All Saints and Court streets in Frederick . The dinner is free and open to all. For information, call 301-663-9380.

Annual Men's Day

Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 4010 Ijamsville Road, Ijamsville will hold its annual Men's Day program 3 p.m. Sunday, with guest speaker the Rev. Lawrence Bryant of Pleasant Grove Christian Community Church.

Lecture to be held

Church history lecture on the crusaders and scholars will be presented by Steve Weidenkopf, church historian, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Libertytown 7 p.m. Nov. 21 in the church. Topics include the Last Crusade; the heresy that threatened the existence of the Church; the age of scholasticism; the profound influence of Saints. Francis and Dominic on civilization; and the creation of the medieval Inquisitors. Cost of the lecture is $5 a person. For information, call 301-898-5111 ext. 14.

Anniversary meeting

Mount Airy Mennonite Church will hold its 57th anniversary meetings Nov. 21 and 22 titled "God-Creation-Faith-Salvation." Guest speaker is Elmer Lapp of Leola, Pa. Services are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21, Sunday school 10 a.m. and worship service 11 a.m. Nov. 22. All are welcome. For information, directions call Pastor Irvin Martin at 301-829-2312.

AdoptionAwareness service

November is "National Adoption Month" and Taneytown Baptist Church, 4150 Sells Mill Road, Taneytown, will be holding a special Adoption Awareness service on Nov. 22. Among the guests will be representatives from the Baptist Family and Children's Services, Catholic Charities, Dr. and Mrs. James Forsberg, local pediatrician and adoptive parent, along with other guests. Taneytown Baptist Church Pastor Gary Buchman and his wife are also adoptive parents. Anyone with questions or an interest in adoption is encouraged to attend. Round 2: Snow expected to fall today, Wednesday

Fast on the heels of the largest 24-hour snowfall to hit the Frederick County since 1983, meteorologists are predicting another round of heavy snow and wind to hit today.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning Monday afternoon for the area, including Frederick County, and said 10 to 20 inches of snow is possible by Wednesday night.

Crowds pay respect to fallen marine

Even U.S. Marines couldn't hold back tears Monday at the viewing of their colleague, Sgt. David Smith.

The procession to the Frederick Christian Fellowship Church was led by Frederick County Sheriff's deputies. Dressed in full military regalia, Marines carried Smith's casket into the church followed by family members as more Marines stood at attention.
