Better luck next weekend

I can finally, in good conscience, say that there is nothing to do in Frederick ... of course, that's not FREDERICK'S fault. In my opinion, if you're crazy enough to head out on Saturday looking for something to do, that is your own fault.

So! What can you do this weekend, other than veg? ... You could always play in the snow, instead of worrying about it. So far, it looks like a wetter snow than the first big snow we had. This makes it easier to pack the snow into snowballs or snowman heads.

I know Food Network has a couple party planning menus that will help you get all the Superbowl food finished before Sunday even rolls around! ... that is, if you can even have people over. You'll have all day Saturday to prepare, and all you can do then is hope the roads are clear so people can come over.

If you're lucky enough to have a Wii gaming system, you can spend the weekend wiggling, jumping, jogging and dancing right in your own home! That certainly beats sitting around watching TV or eating because you're bored.

Or, if you're like my boyfriend, you can spend all weekend fixing every little doodad around the house and building things ... like shelves, desks ... you name it! Just make sure your room is ventilated before laying on a thick coating of wood stain.

Annnnnd that's all I have off the top of my head. My advice is to stay active, and those cabin fever twitches won't hit you as soon as they would if you sat around and ate the potato chips you stocked up on yesterday.

Tune in next week ... because EVERYTHING is rescheduled for then. And then some!!

    Tuna & the full monty?!
    Sounds dirty!

So, if you can't tell already, there are a couple plays this weekend whose titles that have me scratching my head. Maybe it's because I tend to stereotype theater plays to be classic, like Jekyll & Hyde, Alice in Wonderland, so on and so forth. Or maybe that's the only kind I've ever seen?

Anyway, two shows that caught my attention this weekend are called Greater Tuna and The Full Monty.

Fredericktowne Players will be presenting Greater Tuna at Frederick Community College starting today (Friday) at 8. The show is about Tuna, the third smallest town in Texas and its small town morals. The entire population of the small town (apparently about 20 people) is going to be played by two actors. So if nothing else, it'll be fun to watch the two "change costumes and characterizations faster than a jack rabbit runs from a coyote."

That show will run Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., next weekend at 8 and Sunday, Feb. 7 at 2. Reserved seating tickets for adults are $20, $16 for students and senior citizens, $16 for FCC students, faculty and staff with college ID and $8 for children younger than 12. Call this number for ticket and show information: 240-315-3855.

The other show that caught my attention was Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre's presentation of The Full Monty from Jan. 29 through March 27. This one's about six unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo, N.Y. who are miserable. Meanwhile, they catch their wives going crazy over male strippers during their girls' night out and come up with  a quick-cash scheme ... You can probably guess the rest, but I'm sure watching it will be funnier! Tickets range from $25 to $45, and the theater is at 5 Willowdale Drive in the Willowtree Plaza off U.S. 40 West in Frederick.

And check out my Go & Do vid for more ideas this weekend.
