Cancellations...

Lauren LaRocca

So, basically, everything is canceled. You can see the full list here, and you can report closures via that link, too. I just heard that all MET shows are canceled all weekend. To be honest, the only event that I know of that's still on for tomorrow is the UnFiltered art opening at the Blue Elephant (4A W. Fifth St.), so if you're downtown with nothing to do, there's still one option left! Doors open at 7. And, as of now, Nikki Giovanni is still scheduled to give a free reading at the Weinberg, 2 p.m. Sunday. Happy blizzard everyone!!

    Tissue Paper Collage workshop
    Posted: 01/27/2010 07:02 PM
    Lauren LaRocca

Karen Stefano, longtime therapist and artist, is giving another playshop on Tissue Paper Collage next week in Shepherdstown. After years of living and working out of West Virginia, Karen held her first playshop there last year. She has given playshops around the world, one of her most popular being an annual retreat in New Mexico. Karen is one of two living people carrying on the tradition of Edith Wallace, a Jungian analyst who developed the Tissue Paper Collage technique, which is a process meant to unravel various stories within the psyche, manifesting them into the physical realm via art. The workshop runs Feb. 5 and 6. To learn more about Karen, you can read an article I wrote about her in November, or go to her website, www.tissuepapercollage.net.
