Chamber to honor local educators, businesses

The Frederick County Chamber of Commerce will mark 97 years of serving the business community Nov. 4. The Frederick Chamber is the oldest chartered chamber of commerce in the U.S.

The organization will hold its Live Here, Work Here Awards at the event, beginning 5:30 p.m. at the Weinberg Center for the Arts.

The event will start with networking and entertainment, with the awards presentation at 7 p.m. Reservations are available for $65 for chamber members, $90 for non-members by calling 301-662-4164, ext. 201, or by visiting www.frederickchamber.org.

Award winners are: Catherine Alspaugh, Bonnie Velasco, Mark Pritts, outstanding educators; Battelle National Biodefense Institute, Benchmark (education) Award; Thorpewood, Horizon (workstudy-internship) Award; Orases Consulting Corp., Champion of Education; and Richard Ramsburg, Lifetime Educator Award.
