Reporter (Part-time)
This position will be a general assignment reporter covering meetings, hearings, legal issues, trends, general assignment stories, features, obit features and weather stories. Will conduct interviews and collect documents needed for news, feature and enterprise stories. Normal working schedule is 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday; however the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays required.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in writing, English, journalism or related fields and a minimum of one-year experience in a newsroom required. Ability to interact with the public, public officials, business owners and representatives is needed. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and furnish current driving record with no more than two points for a period of two years, with no suspensions. Must be able to meet deadlines.
Distribution Operator (Full-time)
The Distribution Operator is primarily responsible for assisting in the preparation of any given edition of the newspaper prior to distribution for carrier delivery. Majority of time is devoted to setting up inserting machine for production, performing routine maintenance as needed and providing direction for the Distribution Inserters. The normal working hours will vary to include day, evening and night hours. The ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays, is required.
High School Diploma or GED is required. The ability to follow given instructions, keep accurate count of paper, lift and carry paper bundles up to 50lbs. is required. Experience using manual and electric pallet jack is preferred.
Customer Service Representative (Full-time)
The Customer Service Representative is primarily responsible for planning, tracking and control commercial printing projects. This position will coordinate with the client, commercial printing sales, various departments within The Frederick News-Post, and third party organizations to ensure on-time printing/delivery of the print project. Responsible for gathering and outlining manufacturing specifications, managing the production schedule, and providing front-line customer service while participating in regular client communication as part of the project plan. Will be responsible for manipulating postal data and paperwork. Will provide administrative support for FNP Printing Management. This is a fast paced production environment in which the client often makes last minute changes to data and/or specifications. Normal working schedule will be Monday-Friday
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The ability to work a flexible schedule is required to include possible weekends and holidays.
Bachelors Degree in business related field or equivalent experience in a client-focused project management environment, excellent organizational skills, customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work as a team, troubleshoot and planning skills, is required. Will be required to keep information confidential. Knowledge and understanding of the Domestic Mail Manual (DMM), is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, File Maker Pro, Database Administration, and Satori or other mail management software is preferred. Knowledge of the composition/prepress, printing, inserting, and postal regulations is preferred.
