AdGuide : Creating a Press Quality PDF

For optimal reproduction on newsprint, The Frederick News-Post requires all documents submitted from the outside be PDF/X1-A compliant PDF files. PDF/X1-A is an ISO standard for the exchange of graphic content. In general terms, a PDF/X1-A document will only contain CMYK, will have all fonts embeded, and will be of a high enough resolution to reproduce well on newsprint. Although many applications can create PDF files, we recommend using Adobe Acrobat Distiller to acheive the most consistent results. Visit PDF-X.COM for more information on the PDF/X standard.
