George E. Randall, fourth generation of the founder, joins The Frederick News-Post. |

1983 |
This year marks the centennial of The News. The evening paper celebrates its 100th year of publication with a commemorative issue and special community activities. |

1984 |
The Editorial staff begins using
computers in its operations. |

1986 |
Corporate offices are relocated to 442 West Patrick Street along with Frederick Cablevision. |

1987 |
Frederick Cablevision celebrates its 20th year of operation. |

1988 |
Automated mail room equipment is installed, which speeds the process of preparing newspapers for delivery. |

1989 |
Judge Edward S. Delaplaine dies at the age of 95. Youngest son of the founder and a widely respected citizen and historian, he served on the Board of Directors of The Great Southern Printing and Manufacturing Company, and was Chairman of the Board for many years. |
