Our History - From 1990 to 1999

1991-1992. Frederick Cablevision expands operations to all incorporated areas of Frederick County and upgrades services to subscribers.

1993 The Frederick News-Post begins its Newspapers In Education program.

This year marks the 110th anniversary of The News. The evening paper continues to enjoy its perfect record of publication in never having missed a regularly scheduled edition.

1994 Purchase of Patrick Shopping Center for the growth and expansion of the businesses.

1995 Myron W. Randall, Sr. retires after 30 years of service to the companies.

1996 Further expansion of the cable system extends the company into sections of Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia.

1998 The four cable companies formally known as Frederick Cablevision, C/R TV Cable, United Telesystems and GS Communications are consolidated under the name GS Communications, Inc.

A new Internet division is launched known as GS Net.Works and at The Frederick News-Post, new inserting equipment and total pagination on a computer-tofilm system are implemented.
