Our History - From 2000 to Now

2000 Myron Randall, Sr. dies.
2001 The Frederick News-Post, The Job Shop and GS Net.Works are now completely owned by the Randall Family, LLC, with George Randall, fourth generation of the family, named President and Publisher. Frances A. Delaplaine Randall, granddaughter of the founder, is named Chairman of the Board of Randall Family, LLC. The other three members of the fourth generation of the family, Myron W. Randall, Jr., Ruth Ann Randall and Deedee Luttrell, also join the business. GS Communications, Inc. is sold to Adelphia.
2002 The Frederick Post (morning) and The News (evening) are consolidated into one morning edition, The Frederick News-Post. GS Net.Works changes name to Mirame Interactive.

With the debut of the Sunday edition in October and the start of holiday editions, The Frederick News-Post becomes a true daily newspaper, published 365 days a year.

2004 George E. Randall dies. Myron Randall, Jr. is named President and Publisher. William B. Randall, fifth generation family member, joins the company.
2005 The Next 72 Hours weekend guide replaces The Leader as the county's Total Market Coverage (TMC) publication. The Job Shop commercial printing operation celebrates 125 years in business.

The Will of the late Honorable Edward S. Delaplaine establishes the Randall Charitable Trust. Frances Ann and Ruth Ann Randall serve as the trustees.

The Frederick News-Post launches its online E-edition, enabling subscribers to view complete editions of The Frederick News-Post over the Internet.

2006 The Frederick News-Post publishes the first volume of its historical photo album, Your Life. Your Community. Presented by Your Paper The Frederick News-Post. The book features photos and newspaper clippings contributed by members of the Frederick community.

Breaking News and Daily Updates are added to fredericknewspost.com, keeping viewers up to the minute with the latest news.

In April, ground is broken for the new 144,000-square-foot office building and manufacturing plant that will house all businesses of the Randall Family, LLC, as well as a new, state-of-the-art press, the TKS CT4000, manufactured in Japan.

JobFetch.com, a comprehensive online employment opportunities website, is launched as a joint project with several other regional newspapers.

2007 The Frederick News-Post publishes the second volume of the pictorial history book, Your Life. Your Community. Presented by Your Paper The Frederick News-Post.

A daily weekday webcast, FNP@3, is launched as a new feature on fredericknewspost.com.

FrederickHomefinder.com, a website dedicated to real estate listings in Maryland and surrounding areas, is launched.

The Frederick News-Post publishes its first edition of Elegant Living, a quarterly magazine produced in partnership with The Herald Mail in Hagerstown.
