Frederick County received more than 80 loans, contracts and grants in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, totaling more than $346 million - the fourth most in the state, behind Baltimore City and Anne Arundel and Montgomery counties.
Money distributed in the stimulus bill was given from a federal agency to a recipient. The recipient could be a state, a county, a company or others. In some cases, a county government might choose to pass the money along to a municipality, or a company might use a contractor to perform the work. The federal government only tracks the money for the first two tiers (federal agency to company to subcontractor, for example). The data in this database is not an exact representation of how much money will flow into Frederick County.
