NEWS FLASH : Thurmont resident wonders why this forum is being ignored while everyone is posting Thurmont comments in the Emmitsburg Forum? Seems the FNP (Facts Never Presented) screwed up the teaser post over on the Emmitsburg Forum!

Just leave the cute kitty's and adorable little duckies out of this. Neither of them should be subjected to the raw emotions being expressed openly on this forum.

THANK YOU THURMONT FOR ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS EXPO!!
What a great evening, the Expo was packed with visitors! The Thurmont Economic Development Committee wants to thank everyone for making this an evening to remember. Project Chairwoman Diana Stull worked very hard to see that this years Expo lived up to the the expectations created during the previous events. Since this years Expo had a Western theme, many of our participants and visitors dressed in costume to add an extra special flair to the event.

The Expo was held at Catoctin High School
on March 27, 2009 from 6:30pm till 8:30 pm.

Does anyone else see a problem when the Commissioners cut off a resident during Public Comment by moving to adjourn the meeting? A resident had the floor and was in the process of making some comments about an issue brought up by two Commissioners during a previous meeting and had stated that he was not looking for any answers but just wanted to make his comments known. While the resident had the floor Commissioner Lookingbill said that he didn't think this was the place to hear these comments and when the speaker noted that he was addressing comments made during a meeting Commissioner Lookingbill noted that he thought the comments being referred to should not have been made during that meeting either. The resident then asked for a show of hands from the Commissioners as to who else felt this topic was out of place. Commissioner Lookingbill then moved to adjourn the meeting followed quickly by a second from Commissioner Muth. A vote was taken and the meeting was adjourned by a 2-1-1 vote. Commissioners Lookingbill & Muth in favor, Hooper opposed and Terpko abstained. Several residents had not yet had the opportunity to speak and asked for clarification and were told the meeting had been adjourned. There had evidently also been a closed session scheduled and when Commissioner Hooper tried to read the Closed Session Statement Commissioner Muth told him the meeting was over. It seems that the Commissioners could have handled this with a little more tact, tolerance and respect for the resident who was speaking. I question whether the floor could be taken from the speaker in this manner and what redress would be available to this resident and others who wanted to speak but were denied the opportunity? An equally important question is: When do residents have the right to comment on statements made during a public meeting by members of the Board of Commissioners if not during the Public Comment portion of a BOC meeting? . . .
As always, just my opinion.
(Edited to add the part about it just being my opinion.)
