I-70 Welcome Centers rebuilt, enhanced

A bathroom break on long family trips through Maryland hasn't been easy since April 2008.

The State Highway Administration closed the two South Mountain Welcome Centers along eastbound and westbound I-70, near the Frederick/Washington county line, almost two years ago for renovations.

Elected officials, a mayor and a five-member Town Council, serve four-year terms and are elected at-large. Median sales price of recent home sales: From July-Sept '09 - $251,000 (Source: trulia.com) In October 2002, the Washington DC area snipers John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo who terrorized the region were apprehended at a rest stop along I-70 in Myersville. The two were discovered when a trucker recognized their car from police reports. The trucker used his rig to block the exit from the stop while he alerted police. The annual Myersville Trolley Festival is held in October.
