NEW MARKET: Costco delivery trucks get stuck, cause delays

Since the New Market Costco distribution center opened a few weeks ago on the new Intercoastal Drive, delivery trucks have been getting stuck at a Md. 75 bridge. On Jan. 27, Maryland State Police responded to a truck stuck at the railway overpass near Baldwin Road that closed the highway for three hours. A similar incident Tuesday shut down lanes in both directions. more »

With one day to smooth over a legal roadbump, the community pulled together for a local icon. Town officials had one day until the Mealey's Restaurant liquor license expired, and needed 10 signatures to apply for renewal. If the license had lapsed, it would be three months before there could be a new hearing. That was a scenario that didn't bode well for a potential buyer or the town, Councilman David Price said. more »
