Man remembered for love of nature

LAKE LINGANORE -- When family friend Veronica Perkins remembers Morgan Platt, she thinks of Christopher McCandless, profiled in the book "Into the Wild," who gave up many of his possessions to hike in the Alaskan wilderness.

Platt was a member of the environmental group Earth First and frequently took trips out to California to protest cutting down trees. He would climb trees to thwart loggers.

“During that process, the victim was dislodged and further submerged under water,” she said. more »
