MIDDLETOWN -- Two hundred trees will one day tower over students at Middletown High School, thanks to the efforts of Sharon Steger's biology students.

WHEN ROB Ambrose was named head football coach at Towson University early this year, one of the first things he did was go over to the campus and have lunch with the students. It wasn't because the former Middletown High School football player had a craving for dining hall food. It was to let the students get to know him.

"As a football coach, when you go out and get to meet the student body, it makes you a real entity instead of that guy," Ambrose said.

First Frederick County senior idol goes on to state competition

Roy Wilson Craddock may hear the train a comin', but it ain't the whistle outside Folsom Prison. His track is headed toward the Maryland Senior Idol contest.

Craddock was selected from four finalists of the Frederick County senior idol contest to represent Frederick County at the state competition.

The county's first idol was held recently at the Lynfield Event Complex. Contestants had to be 60 or older and perform individually.
