  • In October 2002, the Washington DC area snipers John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo who terrorized the region were apprehended at a rest stop along I-70 in Myersville. The two were discovered when a trucker recognized their car from police reports. The trucker used his rig to block the exit from the stop while he alerted police.
