Fallen Marine laid to rest

Charles Cartwright, who earned 22 awards and a promotion to sergeant during his five tours of service in Iraq and Afghanistan, earned two more honors at his funeral Monday: a third Purple Heart and a promotion to staff sergeant.

About 450 people filled the Union Bridge Fireman's Building on Monday to say goodbye to Cartwright, 26, a Marine who died Nov. 7 while serving in the Farah province of Afghanistan.
