Mrs. Clara Shipe

Clara L. "Sis" Shipe, of Rockville, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008.She was the beloved wife of the late Harry Shipe. She is survived by her brother, Melvin Lee Penn (Margaret); nephews and nieces, Blair L. Penn (Vida), C. Patricia Powell (Ronnie), Jerry E. Penn (Joanne), Donald A. Penn (Betty), Sara Clark (John), Michael Tolker (Kerianne), Joseph Tolker (Barbara) and Nancy Berry (Jay). Mrs. Shipe is also survived by her 16 great-nieces and great-nephews and her 12 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She will also be missed by her close friends Dennis, Anne and Michael Riley and many other friends too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by her siblings, the late William S. Penn and the late Mary A. Tolker. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at Pumphrey's Colonial Funeral Home, 300 West Montgomery Avenue, Rockville. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at First Baptist Church of Rockville, 55 Adclare Road, Rockville. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Glenview Mansion Fund, 603 Edmonston Drive, Rockville, MD 20851. Make checks payable to "City of Rockville," and in reference line write, "Glenview Mansion."
