Mrs. Shirley Grace Bostian, 74, of Middleburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House, Westminster.Born Aug. 7, 1935, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Chester Theodore and Rachel Irene Ogle Zentz. She was the wife of Rodney Kent Bostian Sr., who she married in 1959 and died in 2006. Mrs. Bostian was a 1953 graduate of Thurmont High School and a graduate of the Hagerstown Business College. She was formerly employed at Fort Detrick; was a cafeteria worker at Elmer Wolfe School; a loan officer at F&M Bank in Union Bridge for more than 30 years, retiring in 1998; and the bookkeeper for the family business, Bostian's Garage, in Middleburg. Mrs. Bostian was a member of Middleburg United Methodist Church, where she served as the organist for many years and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Johnsville Senior Citizens, Taneytown Senior Citizens, where she was part of the Purple Passionates, and was a former volunteer with Meals on Wheels. She loved baking, cooking, gardening, going on bus trips, making greeting cards, crocheting, watching the Food Channel on television, playing the organ and piano, working on the family genealogy and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. Surviving are a daughter, Rhonda Myers and husband, Kevin, of Middleburg; a son, Rodney K. Bostian Jr. and wife, Jo, of Taneytown; three grandsons, Kristopher Lee Myers and twins, Joseph William and Thomas James Bostian; a brother, Chester T. Zentz Jr. of Thurmont and sister-in-law, June Shankle of Woodsboro. She was predeceased by a sister, Marian Leakins. A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, with Rev. Charles Slaugh, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at the funeral home.
