Mr. Alan Hillman



Alan Charles Hillman passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009.

Born in Baltimore, on Nov. 24, 1944, he was the son of the late Leon Hillman and the late Selma Peril Hillman. Mr. Hillman was married to H. Rikki Hillman, who preceded him in death in 2001.

He is survived by his loving companion of several years, Barbara Fromer; a daughter, Lauren Hillman Taylor and her husband, Matthew; and a son, Steven Hillman and his wife, Alissa, and their son, Timothy John (TJ). He is also survived by his brother, Louis Hillman; niece, Lee Hillman; and numerous cousins.

After graduating from Baltimore City College High School in 1962, Mr. Hillman served in the United States Army as an intelligence officer. He received a B.S. in commerce from the University of Maryland. Mr. Hillman was employed at the Social Security Administration headquarters in Baltimore for more than 40 years in various positions, from claims representative to executive officer. He received many agency awards over the years, both monetary and honorary, and was recognized by his peers as an expert in his work; he retired in 2004.

Mr. Hillman was a member of Adat Chaim Congregation in Reisterstown and served on its board of trustees. He more recently attended services at Beth Sholom Congregation in Frederick.

Services will be held at noon Sunday, Nov. 1, at Sol Levinson and Bros. Inc., 8900 Reisterstown Road, at Mount Wilson Lane; SolLevinson.com. Interment will be in Anshe Emunah Aitz Chaim Cemetery, 3901 Washington Blvd.
