Mrs. Phyllis L. Gordon Culler

Mrs. Phyllis L. Gordon Culler, 83, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at her home on the family farm in Feagaville, after a valiant fight with multiple myeloma. She was the wife of 54 years to the late Robert L. Culler, who died in 1998.Born in Jefferson, on April 4, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Osceola and Beryl Elizabeth Rice Gordon. Mrs. Culler was a homemaker and worked with her husband on the family farm for most of her life. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Feagaville, having served as Sunday school superintendent and teacher in the past years. She was a former member of the Maryland Brown Swiss Association. Surviving are her three sons, Gordon L. Culler and his wife, Ellen F., of Simpsonville, S.C., R. Allen Culler and his wife, Deborah Korrell, and Donald F. Culler and his wife, Debbie, all of Frederick; grandchildren, Amy Rembold and husband, Mike, of Kathmandu, Napal, Katie Jordan and husband, Marshall, of Spartansburg, S.C., Matthew Culler and wife, Monica, of Columbia, S.C., Nicholas Culler and wife, Rebecca, and Justin Culler, all of Frederick; great-grandchildren, Ethan Rembold of Napal, and Zachary and Ava Culler of Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Beryl Jackson of Frederick; a sister-in-law, Mary Catherine Gordon of Jefferson; and many nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by her devoted caregiver and friend, Shirley Easterday Eshelman. She was preceded in death by a sister, N. Evelyn Boyer; and her brother, Lee Gordon. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, from St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Feagaville. The Rev. John Bromhal will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Rembold and Marshall Jordan. Active pallbearers will be Justin Culler, Nicholas Culler, Matthew Culler, James Boyer, Joseph Gordon and Dale Culler.
