Ms. Ruth Connolly Conkey

Ms. Ruth Connolly Conkey, 85, of Frederick and formerly of Cambridge, Mass., passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Collegeview Nursing Center.Born Nov. 30, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and John Connolly. Ruth was proud of her work making brown soap for the troops during World War II. She was also a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan and loved her Irish music and dance. Her greatest smiles were reserved for her great-grandchildren, who brought her so much joy in her final days. Ruth was the mother of Louise Walmsley and husband, Tom, of Frederick, John Conkey of San Antonio, Texas, and the late William and Edward Conkey of Massachusetts. Ms. Conkey leaves behind 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Mary Bracknell of Connecticut, and the late John Connolly, Leonard Connolly, Edward Connolly, Lillian Crawford and Florence Spry. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends at the Courtyard Nursing Center in Medford, Mass., and at Collegeview Nursing Center in Frederick.
