Mr. Elvin E. Polesky



Mr. Elvin E. Polesky, 84, of Frederick, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Kline Hospice House, Mount Airy. He was the husband for 51 years to Wilma Lucille Lang-Polesky, who died in 1998, and for 6 years to Eileen J. Lortz Giampapa-Polesky, who died in 2008.

Born April 21, 1925, in Arco, Minn., he was the son of the late Herman W. and Minnie Hecke Polesky. He worked for more than 30 years as a computer technician for the Army and the FAA. He also was a former president of AFGA at Fort Detrick. Elvin served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member for American Legion Post 168, Thurmont, where he was past commander, chaplain and 40+8 vice commander; and a member of AMVETS Post 2, Frederick, and served as state chaplain. He was also a member of the Frederick Moose and was district sergeant of arms, the Frederick Elks, and was a district commissioner of the FSK Boy Scouts.

Surviving are a son, Ron Polesky and wife, Bonnie, of Walkersville; two grandchildren, Derek Polesky and wife, Amanda, and Melissa Polesky; five great-grandchildren, Tyler Polesky, Abby Polesky, James Allen III, CamRon Allen and Jasmine Williams. Mr. Polesky was preceded in death by a brother, Erhard O. Polesky.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at Victory Christian Center, 7722 Edgewood Church Road, Frederick, with Pastor Michael Gapland officiating.

Interment will take place in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
