Mrs. Betty McConoughey Bartenstein, 81, of Frederick, passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Joseph Bartenstein, of Frederick.Born Feb. 16, 1928, in Cincinnati, she was the daughter of the late Wilford P. and Elizabeth R. McConoughey. She grew up in Takoma Park and graduated from Calvin Coolidge High School in Washington. She met her future husband shortly after his return from military service and began 63 years of wedded bliss. In addition to her loving husband, Betty is survived by her son, William H. Bartenstein and wife, Peg; her daughter, Scherie A. Hamilton; four grandchildren, Bill Hamilton and wife, Jennifer, Kent Hamilton and wife, Amy, Jennifer Bartenstein and Julie Bartenstein; and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Kent Hamilton. She was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Russo. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, in the Veterans Garden of Honor II at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. 15 N, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633. Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Services, Skkot Cody, P.A., Frederick.
