Mr. James Roger Young

Mr. James Roger Young, 78, of Frederick, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at the Kline Hospice House. He was the husband for 54 years of Rochelle Troiano Young.He was born in Apollo, Pa., on April 23, 1931, as a son of the late Ralph F. Young and Katherine Rodgers Young Nardulli. Mr. Young was a graduate of Vandergrift High School (Pennsylvania), class of 1950. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. He then attended and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1959 with a degree in accounting and finance. Later, he became a certified public accountant and was a life member of the Pennsylvania Institute for CPA. He was retired as the finance director for Washington County. He was a member of the Sons of Italy in Vandergrift, Pa.; St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Frederick; John R. Webb VFW Post 3285, Frederick; Amvets Valley Memorial Post 9, Middletown; Francis Scott Key American Legion Post 11, Frederick; and the Owls Club, Frederick. Mr. Young was a stamp collector and avid golfer and through his work in Washington County, received a life membership at the Black Rock Golf Course. Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, James R. Young II and his wife, Catherine Harper, of Germantown, Becky Young of Frederick, and William A. Young and his wife, Kerri, of Frederick; one brother, Ralph Young of Burlington, Vt.; one sister, Jean Klawiter of Rockford, Mich.; six grandchildren, Kimberly R. Young, April M. Young, Timothy A. Moore Jr., Sarah K. Mott, Dayton A. Young and Ritchie A. Young; three great-grandchildren, Terrence Young, Kianna and Rochelle Moorman; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by his stepfather, James Nardulli of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rochelle Moore. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. A wake service will be held at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 E. Second St., Frederick. The Rev. Richard Murphy will be the celebrant. Private inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Fort Myer, Va.
