McCarrick in New York for Wendy's Heisman award

NEW YORK -- Although she did not win the award, Middletown 's Colleen McCarrick said that just being in New York as one of the 12 finalists for the Wendy's High School Heisman Trophy Award has been a great experience.

The awards ceremony was held on Friday at the Nokia Theater in New York and Angela Duckworth of Scottsdale, Ariz., was the female winner. Trevor Van Ackeren of Bethelem, Pa., was the male winner.

"All the other national finalists were great," she said Friday night. "I was very excited."

She also got to meet the four finalists for college football's Heisman Trophy on Friday.

McCarrick arrived in New York on Thursday and will stay until Sunday afternoon. A senior, she plays basketball, field hockey, lacrosse and track and field at Middletown .
