Man evaluated after pond incident

Point of Rocks — A 47-year-old man pushed his vehicle into a pond, according to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. The man was not injured, but was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for an emergency evaluation.

The vehicle became partially submerged in a pond off Conrads Ferry Drive about noon Sunday, Cpl. Jennifer Bailey said. When first responders arrived, they found the man outside the vehicle.

Solicitation investigated

Middletown — The Frederick County Sheriff's Office is investigating a report that a man tried to talk to a 13-year-old girl after she got off her school bus.

The girl stepped off the bus in the 7000 block of Holter Road about 3:25 p.m. Thursday, Cpl. Jennifer Bailey reported Monday. A man came up to the girl and asked for help, saying his car had broken down. She ran home and told her parents.

After the girl left, the man got in his vehicle and drove away, Bailey said. Deputies searched for the man, but did not find him.

The girl should be commended for alerting her parents and the sheriff's office, Bailey said.

"The student did exactly the right thing," she said.

The man appeared to be between 18 and 20 years old, with brown hair and eyes. He was driving a black passenger vehicle that might have a sun roof or a convertible top.

Anyone with information should call the sheriff's office at 301-600-1046.

Woman jumps moving vehicle

A 27-year-old woman was being treated at Washington County Hospital on Monday night after she jumped out of a vehicle on U.S. 15 north at Biggs Ford Road about 6:20 p.m., according to Maryland State Police.

The woman apparently was riding in the back seat of a vehicle also occupied by her mother and father, Sgt. Rob Embly said.

"At this point, we don't know why she jumped," he said.

Trooper First Class Gary Martin, who is handling the investigation, remained at the Hagerstown hospital at 9 p.m. Monday.

No other details were available, Embly said.
