Wanted man turns himself in

A man wanted by the Frederick Police Department turned himself in Thursday.

Lamar C. Wilmore, 31, had an active warrant from violating his probation by not showing up for court. His case involved charges of reckless endangerment and conspiracy to import cocaine into the state, said Michele Bowman, community outreach coordinator.

Wilmore was featured in the first "Frederick 's Most Wanted" item published in April by The Frederick News-Post.

Man shot in head during home invasion

NEW WINDSOR -- A man was critically injured in a home invasion in the 2600 block of Liberty Road, according to Maryland State Police.

The man, who was shot in the head, was taken to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment, police said.

Three black men entered the house about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, police said. Police are not sure how they got in.

Two men, who are believed to be tenants, are believed to be the only occupants of the house at the time, police said. The culprits ordered the men to the first floor. One of the three assailants assaulted one of the men with a firearm.

Police believe there may have been an altercation, giving one of the occupants of the house an opportunity to escape to a neighbor's house to call authorities. Police also received a call from the man who stayed behind in the house after it was believed the three culprits had left.

When authorities arrived, they found the man had been shot and the uninjured man still at his neighbor's house, police said.

Anyone with information should call state police at 410-386-3000. Callers can remain anonymous.
