The scene at a fatal crash at Md. 26 and Clemsonville Road.
Libertytown -- The driver killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday night on Md. 26 at Clemsonville Road was a Mount Airy man, according to Maryland State Police.

David Campbell Jr., 29, was pronounced dead at the scene about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Campbell was driving a 1994 Honda north on Clemsonville Road and attempted to turn left onto westbound Md. 26 in front of a 2009 Ford Fusion driven by Patricia Lynn Flander, 56, of New Market , who was going east on Md. 26, police said.

Police said the Ford collided with the front driver's side of the Honda.

Campbell was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his car, police said. Flander was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt in the crash.

No charges have been filed, and police do not know if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, police said. Troopers shut down the crash site for about 3 1/2 hours to investigate.

Victims of other recent crashes include Matthew Goetzinger, 19, of Keedysville, who died in a single-vehicle crash on Md. 632 north of Md. 63 in Downsville on Aug. 21; and Germantown resident Mario Scarzella, 35, who was killed Aug. 12 in a single-vehicle crash at South Jefferson Street and the northbound ramp of U.S. 15 in Frederick . He may have had a medical emergency before the crash.

Campbell's family members' phone number is unpublished, and they could not be reached for comment.

Anyone with information about the crash should call state police at 301-600-4151.
