From Staff Reports

Man charged in robbery

A Middletown man was arrested after police said he punched a man in the face and took money from him in the 300 block of North Market Street, according to the Frederick Police Department.

The man gave police a description of the man who robbed him about 5:50 p.m. Monday, police said. Matthew Allen Dennis, 27, was found by officers in the 200 block of Klinehart's Alley and identified by the man as the attacker.

Dennis was charged with robbery, theft less than $100, and second-degree assault, authorities said. He remained at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center on Tuesday in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Five men charged with waterfowl violation

Five men were charged with migratory waterfowl violation after they used corn to bait ducks and then shoot them, according to Maryland Natural Resources Police.

During a routine flight with the Maryland State Police Aviation unit on Oct. 13, police found a pond in Washington County that had corn in the water, which is an illegal way to hunt waterfowl, police said.

During the opening day of waterfowl season on Oct. 17, officers set up surveillance of the area, police said. The officers saw several men shooting at waterfowl. Officers found the men had 23 wood ducks and two mallard ducks. The daily limit is six ducks per person with only three being wood ducks. Five weapons were taken, and the illegal ducks were donated to the Union Rescue Mission.

Police charged Russell David Thompson, 34, of Dickerson, Raymond Joseph Glasglow Jr., 55, of Davidsonville, Charles Frank Powers, 59, of Frederick , Lewis Michael Kefauver, 53, of Keedysville and Edward Michael Enser, 57, of Frederick .

A Jan. 6 court date has been set.
