Fire and police blotter

From Staff Reports

Description of stolen truck released

The Frederick Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a GMC truck that was stolen over the weekend from a garage at the Maryland School for the Deaf.

The truck is a white 1995 GMC Suburban with Maryland tag 08775CB, police Lt. Shawn Martyak said in an e-mail Wednesday.

The truck had been parked inside the Career and Technology Building at 300 S. Carroll St., police Capt. Kevin Grubb said.

Keys were taken from a locked area in the garage, he said.

"Point of entry was gained by forcing a door," Grubb said.

The building is used for classes such as photography, auto repair and art, Grubb said. Staff members exited the building Friday after school, and police do not know who was the last out, he said.

A staff member came to work Sunday, saw signs of a break-in and paged his supervisor, who called police, school Superintendent James E. Tucker wrote Monday in an e-mail.

Anyone who sees a vehicle matching this description is asked to call the police department's TIPS line at 301-600-8477 or Frederick police at 301-600-2100.

Fuel spill closes road

Monrovia -- Md. 75 was shut down for about an hour after a fuel spill about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, said Lt. Steve Shook of the Division of Fire and Rescue Services.

The fuel spill was about a half a mile long, and authorities do not know how it got there, he said. It stretched from Ed McClain to Baldwin roads.

Sand was put down to make the road less slick.
