Hawks defeat Cadets in volleyball

Volleyball

Urbana ended its regular season in volleyball with a 25-11, 27-25, 22-25, 25-9 win over Frederick Monday.

The Hawks finish their regular season with a school record 11-3 and the second seed in Class 4A North. Urbana hosts Kenwood at 6 p.m. next Monday in the Class 4A North Quarterfinals.

Frederick (5-9) hosts Northwood in a first-round match of the Class 3A West playoffs at 6 p.m.

Megan Kent led Urbana with 13 kills, 13 service aces and two assists; Mariel Schofield had 12 kills, three aces and six digs; Morgan Snow had nine kills, three blocks and two digs; Christie Stanko had 10 digs, three kills and three aces; Kayla Wilkinson had 27 assists and Haley Feinberg had 10.

For Frederick , Stephanie Kline had 16 digs; Courtney Dentinger had 21 assists; Jenna Connors had eight kills with three blocks and Haley Nash had 12 kills.

Urbana also won the junior varsity match, 2-0.

Men's Soccer

MSM 2, CCSU 1

Emmitsburg -- Steve Pathroff scored the winning goal of the match with 17 seconds left in overtime for Mount St. Mary's (6-9-1, 5-3-1 Northeast Conference). It was the second straight overtime win for the Mount.

Chris Davis had three saves for Mount St. Mary's.

Women's Soccer

Sacred Heart 5, MSM 1

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Regina Potter scored for Mount St. Mary's (6-11-2, 4-5-1 NEC).

College Cross Country

Hood to hosts CAC Championships

Hood College will host the conference championships at 11 a.m. Saturday at Heritage Farm Park in Walkersville .

Nine teams are slated to compete in men's and women's divisions. Salisbury is favored in both men's and women's divisions. The women's race starts at 11 a.m. with the men's race to follow at noon.

Local athletes competing in meet include Hood's Brendan Greenless, William Andrews, Jordan McNeill (Walkersville ) and Maria Moss (Brunswick ); St. Mary's Katie Morgan (Walkersville ); Salisbury's Andrew Cantor (TJ) and Michael Hicks (Tuscarora).
