Man charged with DUI, fleeing and eludingA brief vehicle chase early Saturday ended with the arrest of a Montgomery County man, according to the Frederick Police Department.
Jose Rojas, 36, of the 18000 block of Pier Point Place in Montgomery Village, was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence and fleeing and eluding police, authorities said.
At 12:07 a.m., officers responded to the area of 16th Street and Schifferstadt Boulevard in response to a report of a vehicle in the road with a man asleep at the wheel.
When officers awoke the driver and identified themselves, he fled the scene in his vehicle, police said. After a short chase, the driver stopped at Rose Hill Manor Park and was arrested.

Man faces handgun, drug charges after chase
A Frederick man was arrested Saturday morning on handgun possession and other charges after a short foot chase, authorities said.
Coryea Dominique Webster, 18, of the 300 block of West Patrick Street, was apprehended at 6:56 a.m. in the woods at U.S. 40 and U.S. 15, according to the Frederick Police Department.
Webster was also charged with possession of marijuana and controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia; theft under $100; unauthorized use of motor vehicle; driving without license; taking vehicle without owner's consent and driving vehicle in violation of rental agreement, police said.
Police responded to the area of the Motel 6 at 999 W. Patrick St. in an attempt to find a stolen vehicle. Officers located the vehicle behind the motel, but when they talked with the driver, he ran away, police said.
The driver left a handgun in the vehicle along with a quantity of marijuana, police said.
The suspect returned to the area a short time later, and officers recognized him as the man who had fled. After another brief foot chase, the man was apprehended, police said.

$2,000 in merchandise stolen from store
More than $2,000 in merchandise was stolen Saturday morning from the Jos. A. Bank store on Buckeystown Pike in Frederick , according to Maryland State Police.
A burglar alarm alerted police to the store at about 5:37 a.m. When troopers from the Frederick Barrack arrived, they saw that one of the store's front door windows had been shattered and someone had gotten in, police said.
Troopers searched the store, but no suspects were found.
Store employees reported that a leather jacket and two cashmere jackets had been taken, police said. The merchandise was valued at more than $2,000.
A Frederick County Sheriff's Office technician assisted in processing the crime scene.

Round 2: Snow expected to fall today, Wednesday
Fast on the heels of the largest 24-hour snowfall to hit the Frederick County since 1983, meteorologists are predicting another round of heavy snow and wind to hit today.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning Monday afternoon for the area, including Frederick County, and said 10 to 20 inches of snow is possible by Wednesday night.

Even though Frederick County Public Schools are closed today -- using the sixth snow day this school year -- the school system will not hold school on the Monday Presidents Day holiday as the first scheduled snow makeup day.

The procession to the Frederick Christian Fellowship Church was led by Frederick County Sheriff's deputies. Dressed in full military regalia, Marines carried Smith's casket into the church followed by family members as more Marines stood at attention.
