Brunswick native Robert Weddle has made it to the final round of a karaoke competition on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

Today, he and two others on the show will sing for the most votes. Viewers will decide who wins, voting by telephone or online.

A month ago, Weddle, 31, was just one of thousands of would-be professional singers. He and his wife, Kate, went to a karaoke bar not far from their Orlando, Fla., home and stumbled upon an Oprah Winfrey talent scouting expedition.

Weddle sang, as he typically did a couple of times a month at karaoke spots. The next thing he knew, Winfrey talent scout and Grammy award winner BeBe Winans was tapping him for the nationwide karaoke competition.

Competition was whittled from eight entrants to three on the show last week.

Weddle was excited about the prospect of turning the adventure into a career. Currently unemployed, he was most recently a telemarketer.
