A Berkeley County Circuit Court judge in West Virginia arraigned a Morgan County, W.Va., man Monday on a charge of concealing the body of a Brunswick man in 2008.A passer-by reported finding the body of Clarence Green Jr., who was 38, in his pickup truck beside I-81 near Falling Waters, W.Va., in the early evening of Feb. 1, 2008, said Berkeley County Sheriff's Office Lt. Gary Harmison. Police found Green lying in his truck with his feet hanging out the rear window, he said. An autopsy revealed that Green, a brick mason, had died of a heroin overdose and had other illegal drugs in his system at the time of his death, Harmison said. A Berkeley County grand jury indicted Robert W. Unger, 47, in October. He faces one count of attempting to conceal a body, a felony. Police arrested Unger last week. The delay was in part because prosecutors were determining whether to charge Unger in Berkeley County or Morgan County, Harmison said. Investigators learned Unger and Green knew each other through work, and that Green died at Unger's home in the Berkeley Springs, W.Va., area, Harmison said. Unger is in custody at Eastern Regional Jail in Martinsburg, W.Va., and awaiting trial, Harmison said. Unger's trial date is Feb. 2, 2010, Gregory K. Jones, a Berkeley County assistant prosecuting attorney said. Unger is being held on $25,000 bail, Jones said. If convicted of the charge, Unger could face one to five years in a state penitentiary, Harmison said. Green was born Sept. 13, 1969, in Olney. He graduated from Brunswick High School and worked for years as a brick mason with his father, Clarence Green Sr., who is deceased. The younger Green had two children.
