From Staff Reports

MSD to review programs, policies

The Maryland School for the Deaf will perform an internal review of its student life programs and policies, according to a letter mailed to parents from school Superintendent James E. Tucker.

The review comes after four students were charged in an alleged sexual assault of a student Oct. 27. Tucker hopes to include parents' and guardians' perspectives and input in the review.

"I cannot reiterate this often enough that the health and safety of all MSD students is always our highest priority," he wrote.

The Frederick school will establish four Student Life Programs review committees of parent and staff representatives. It will review high and middle school boys and girls dormitories.

These committees will become standing school committees and will meet once every quarter to review student life programs and policies, Tucker wrote.

Police investigate theft of hot tub

Maryland State Police are searching for two people who are in hot water for stealing a hot tub.

On Sept. 28, troopers were called to Seasonal Solutions on Jefferson Pike, which sells outdoor items including hot tubs, police said Friday. A two-person hot tub valued at $2,500 was taken Sept. 26 or Sept. 27.

Anyone with information should call state police at 301-600-4150.
