Two races scheduledTwo 5K races will be held in Frederick County today. Early risers can go to the Wicked Fast 5K and 1K Fun Run, with registration from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m.
The race starts at 8 a.m. on John Simmons Street in Urbana , between the Urbana Regional Library and the Giant Food shopping center. Registration forms will be available at the race start. Fee for the 5K is $25; fee for the Fun Run is $10.
The Headless Horseman 5K and 1K Fun Run is at the Frederick High School track. Registration begins at 2:30 p.m. The Fun Run begins at 3:30 p.m., and the 5K begins at 4 p.m.
The 5K course circles the Baker Park area before finishing back on the track. The race benefits the Frederick High School girls cross-country team.
Entry fee is $25 for the 5K and $10 for the 1K. For information, call Frank Strakonsky at 301-698-0958.

H1N1 vaccine update scheduled
The Frederick County Health Department will brief the public on plans for pandemic H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine clinics at 10 a.m. Monday in the third-floor meeting room of Winchester Hall, 12 E. Church St.
Dr. Barbara Brookmyer, the county's health officer, will review the plan for pandemic H1N1 flu vaccine clinics for high-risk groups, as well as future plans for H1N1 flu vaccine clinics.
The briefing will be webcast on www.frederickcountymd.gov/video and later made available at www.frederickcountymd.gov/fluvideos.
Moms club to meet
A club for mothers who primarily stay home will meet in Kemptown starting in November.
The Moms Offering Moms Support Club of Kemptown/Green Valley is a nonprofit organization that offers events for mothers, mostly during the day when stay-at-home moms need support the most, according to organizers.
This month's meeting will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Providence United Methodist Church, 3735 Kemptown Church Road, Monrovia .

Meeting to address shortage of services
A town hall meeting in Frederick will address the problems facing people on the developmental disabilities waiting list and budget cuts to community services.
The meeting is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at The Arc of Frederick County, 620A Research Drive.
Around the state, people with developmental disabilities, caregivers, family members and health advocates have been meeting and talking about how state budget cuts affect their lives. Elected leaders and local officials are invited to attend and address the gathering.
This meeting is sponsored locally by the Arc and the Working Together advocacy group.
